Settled in 1849, Fort Worth originated as one of eight forts protecting settlers from Indian attacks. In 1876, the Texas & Pacific Railway arrived in Fort Worth, making the city the heart of Texas’ ranching industry. A city grew where an army camp once stood in the following years, and oil and aviation brought new wealth in the region.

When Sundance square was introduced in the mid-1980’s, the city took on a huge revitalization and began to grow as a tourist attraction. Although many new buildings have emerged since the birth of Fort Worth, the city’s earliest buildings endure today. The Western heritage of the city is thriving and blending amongst the art, culture and commerce Fort Worth holds today.
