Plano ISD has 72 campuses with over 54,000 students that served by a highly educated professional staff, forty-one percent of whom have a master’s degree. The remaining areas of Plano are covered by the Lewisville, Frisco and Allen Independent School Districts.

For those looking for outdoor adventures, the Arbor Hill Nature Preserve’s lush parks and trails provide the perfect afternoon getaway. The annual Plano Balloon Festival is a weekend event that offers something for everyone with kid friendly, activities, skydivers, an enormous variety of food, an evening fireworks show and incredible hot air balloons. The ArtCentre of Plano allows art aficionados to browse through the art galleries for displays of local and national artists. With so many entertainment options, it’s easy to see why Plano is a great place to call home.

Historical: Plano was initially settled in 1840 as a farming community. Plano was incorporated on June 2, 1873, shortly after the Houston and Central Railroad opened. The railroad changed Plano from a farming community to a trading outpost. Downtown Plano began to thrive with the injection of commerce until a large fire consumed the city in 1896. As the city began to rebuild, many of the businesses placed deep roots that still remain in the area. Today, Historic Downtown Plano’s vibrant streets are alive with new artisan restaurants, retail stores and commercial spaces that draw in both residents and visitors.
